This will go down as the year when floating LNG (FLNG) production became a reality.

In April 2017, Petronas exported the first cargo from an FLNG unit. It shipped the initial volumes from PFLNG Satu off Sawarak in eastern Malaysia onto MISC’s Seri Camellia, bound for India.

In July, the world’s largest floating structure, Shell’s Prelude FLNG, was towed into position off the northwest coast of Australia, where it is expected to start producing next year.
