In 1973, AP Moller-Maersk had offices in just five nations. Thirty-five years later, it boasted 325 offices across 125 countries. A handful of Danes, led by the group’s family owner, Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller, had taken the company from an order for one boxship to the top container carrier — almost twice the size of its nearest rival.

This extraordinary story of a unique public company, which has been led by just two very private people over 100 years, has been recorded by Chris Jephson and Henning Morgen, the authors of Creating Global Opportunities — Maersk Line in Containerisation 1973-2013 (Cambridge).
