The UN shipping regulator’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) plans to issue a resolution that will not penalise owners who have already installed systems that have been approved according to current guidelines, two such owners’ organisations said.
The agreement “comes after a tireless effort by Intertanko and its industry partners to address key challenges associated with the implementation of the IMO’s Ballast Water Management Convention,” tanker group Intertanko said.
