A Norden tanker has come to the rescue of a Clipper Race yacht that lost its mast off the US west coast.
The 38,000–dwt Nord Nightingale (built 2008), en route from Yokohama to Los Angeles, headed on Tuesday to Robin Knox-Johnston's California boat which had suffered the damage in a 120-degree roll.
The intention was to transfer injured crew member Clive Cockram on board the Norden ship.
