The frantic search continues for a missing crew member that fell overboard a Royal Caribbean (RCCL) cruise ship earlier this week.

The ship skipped its port of call at St. Thomas to search for the missing man.

The US Coast Guard (USCG) has joined forces with Bahamian authorities in an effort to locate the 45-year-old who plummeted from the 5,400-berth Oasis of the Seas while it sailed off the coast of Nassau on Monday.

USCG station Miami first responded to the incident after the master of the Bahamas-flagged cruiseship radioed authorities after security camera footage brought the horrific accident to light.

The Coast Guard would not speculate on how the man fell overboard, but it confirmed the ship's itinerary has changed because the Oasis had altered its course to aid the search effort.

As TradeWinds has reported, RCCL's latest saga comes one week after a bomb scare prompted a security sweep of its Liberty of the Seas ship while crusing off the coast of Florida.

The Oasis of the Seas is classed by DNV and has P&I cover with the Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association.
