US owner Royal Caribbean International has offloaded one of its oldest cruiseships, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

New York-listed RCI says French subsidiary Croisieres de France (CDF) has sold the 37,000-gt Bleu de France (ex-Holiday Dream, built 1981) but will continue to operate the vessel under lease for another year.

RCI says the deal provided additional liquidity of around $55m, but called the gain "immaterial", without elaborating further.
