A Chinese heavy-lift vessel has been detained in the US after it damaged a crane at APM Terminals in Portsmouth.
The US Marshals Service arrested the 14,000–hp Zhen Hua 24 (built 1986) following the incident on 14 February.
Virginia Port Authority is suing the crane manufacturer, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry, in Norfolk’s federal court for $14.65m in damages. Its subsidiary ZMPC also owns the ship.
