An Indonesian general cargoship has been released by Somali pirates after a ransom was paid.

Samudera’s 8,900-dwt Sinar Kindus (built 1999) was hijacked on 16 March with a crew of 20.



Pirates told Reuters the vessel had been freed following the payment of $4.5m, while the Indonesian navy said it had shot dead four gunmen after the money was handed over on Sunday.
