UK ferry operator Wightlink has warned that staff will have to go if it is forced to cut the number of sailings across the Solent.

The company's new W-class vessels make almost 18,000 journeys a year between Lymington and Yarmouth, but government advisory body Natural England says the figure should be reduced to 16,500 on environmental grounds.



Any cuts would only affect night-time crossings, the company has said.
