Maersk-owned salvor Svitzer has been criticised by owners of cargo on the grounded Rena over the huge cost of recovering goods and possessions.



Sources told New Zealand's ONE News that the company is asking for up to 80% of the value of salvaged cargo to return it.

This is thought to be the highest amount ever charged for goods on a wreck, beating the 60% asked for boxes from MSC Napoli off the UK.
