Lorentzen will join the ranks of a roster that includes industry legends John Fredriksen, Peter Georgiopoulos, Philip Louis-Dreyfus and Jacob Stolt-Nielsen when the torch is passed in three months time.

The Seacor executive, who spent two decades as president of Northern Navigation America before taking the top title at his current employer, will succeed 2011 commodore Angeliki Frangou at the conclusion of a three-day event that begins on 19 March at the Hilton Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut.

For more than 20 years, the Connecticut Maritime Association has handed out the award, a vintage admiral's cap, to personalities who have contributed to the growth and development of the shipping industry.

Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, New York-listed Seacor and its affiliates control a fleet of tankers, offshore support vessels, tugs and barges. The network also includes aviation and logistics businesses.
