Federal prosecutors are asking for a crewman who reported pollution from a Greek bulker to be rewarded.
The US Attorney's office says engineer Salvatore Lopez handed US Coast Guard inspectors a note after the 57,000-dwt Aquarosa (built 2010) arrived in Baltimore last winter.
Prosecutors say the Filipino later told investigators that crew members had been instructed by senior engineers to dump waste oil and plastic overboard and provided mobile phone photographs as evidence.
