A tug owned by Kirby Corp has sunk after hitting ground near Bella Bella off West Canada.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans said the 2,600-bhp Nathan E. Stewart (built 2001) ran aground yesterday and it is estimated that more than 200,000 litres of fuel have leaked into the sea.
Various response vessels, workboats and booms have been deployed to tackle the situation.
