CSL Australia’s iron ore transshipment operation in South Australia has been hit after a fire aboard a transshipment barge.
Eighty people are said to have been left without work following the incident aboard the CSL Floating Offshore Transfer Barge (FOTB) Spencer Gulf, according to the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA).
Australian media reports said a large plume of black smoke could be seen from the Whyalla foreshore as flames engulfed the barge while it was being used to transfer iron ore to a panamax bulker.
