A Peter Dohle containership has suffered a 50-metre hull gash near a fuel tank after it grounded off Denmark.

Defence Command Denmark (DCD) said a diver had inspected the 1,678-teu Victoria (built 2004) following the incident on 10 February near Endelave.

The ship has a 50m by 20cm crack along its port side, nine metres below the waterline.

But the diver said it looked as though fuel had been solidified by meeting the cold sea water and no leaks were apparent.
