Two Yemeni coast guard officers have been killed after their vessel struck a mine.

The incident happened off the port of Mohka near the vital Bab-el-Mandeb strait, Al Arabiya reported.

Eight other men on the vessel were injured.

A Yemeni military source said the ship was undertaking a surveillance tour.

US intelligence officers had warned vessels of the dangers of mines laid by Houthi rebels in the area earlier this month.
