A BBC general cargo vessel had to be towed into the Port of East London, South Africa on Friday after it suffered an engine failure.
The 4,900-dwt BBC Shanghai (built 2001) was en route from Durban to Lagos, Nigeria when the incident took place.
Transnet National Ports Authority’s (TNPA) 70t-bhp tug Shasa had sailed from East London on Thursday to assist in towing the stricken vessel, which was drifting 35 kms off Mazeppa Bay.
