A grinding drought in Somalia is a key driver for the resurgence of piracy in the waters off the African nation, a US official and maritime security expert said.
US General Thomas Waldhauser, who heads the military's US Africa Command in Djibouti, said the nation's armed forces in the region will continue to watch the situation but he is not ready to describe the six attacks in recent weeks as a trend.
