Fourth ballast water system wins USCG type approval

Sunrui become the fourth manufacturer of ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) to win type approval from the US Coast Guard, according to a notice on the Maritime Commons blog. 

The Coast Guard Marine Safety Center issued the type approval to the Sunrui BalClor system. It uses a three steps, consisting of filtering and electrolysis during uptake and neutralization at discharge to kill invasive marine species.
