The US is launching multiple investigations into a fatal collision between a warship and a NYK Line containership.

Announcement of the probes came as the US Navy announced that the bodies of seven missing sailors had been found in the portion of the USS Fitzgerald that was damaged in the collision with the 2,858-teu ACX Crystal (built 2008).

Vice Admiral Joseph Aucoin, the commander of the US Seventh Fleet, said he launched an administrative probe known as a Jagman investigation, which is named for the Manual of the Judge Advocate General, the Navy's legal branch.
