Shipping operations are resuming along much of the US Gulf Coast after a tropical storm hit the region.

Tropical Storm Cindy was downgraded to a tropical depression after making landfall last night in southwestern Louisiana, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The storm slowed ship movements across a swath of the US Gulf. But pilots serving the Lake Charles region of Louisiana and the Sabine Neches waterway in Texas resumed service earlier today according to notices issued to port agencies.
