Knut Orbeck-Nilssen, the new chairman of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), is aiming to future-proof the sector.
The DNV GL maritime chief executive told the seventy-fifth session of the IACS council in Beijing that he wants to assess IACS members against its own quality systems and modernise ahead of inevitable development in digitalisation and new technologies.
He also pledged to deepen its ongoing commitment to transparency.
