Shipping regulators have stopped potentially hundreds of ships from escaping the regulation to install ballast water treatment equipment for a few more years.
As exclusively reported by TradeWinds last week, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) reached a last-minute agreement to extend the date by which existing ships have to fit these systems from the first statutory dry docking after September 2017 to September 2019.
