The US Coast Guard is asking operators of regulated ports and terminals to assess their vulnerabilities to cyber attacks.
The draft circular comes as Maersk restores normal service at all of its US terminal operations after a cyber attack knocked out much of the company's computer networks.
The circular from the office of USCG assistant commandant Rear Admiral Paul Thomas covers ports and facilities regulated under the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA).
