All 13 crew have been safely rescued from a listing general cargoship off Africa.

The 8,900-dwt Koza (built 2004) started taking on water and sent a distress signal 100 miles south of Freetown, Sierra Leone, on 7 December, the Wyborcza website said.

The master reported a leak in the engine room and the crew prepared to abandon ship.

Polish operator Euroafrica's 17,300-dwt cargoship ESL Europa (built 2007) was first at the scene and took 11 crew on board.
