An FPSO operating off the Newfoundland coast came within a quarter of a mile of colliding with an iceberg, according to Canadian regulators.

The incident involving the SeaRose (built 2004) took place in March 2017 in which the vessel failed to follow “appropriate safety protocol” in a close encounter with an iceberg.

As a result Husky Energy has been ordered to suspend operations of the FPSO by the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB).
