A Greek-flagged oil tanker ran aground in shallow waters at the beach of Kanavas on the island of Milos this morning while trying to dock at the pier, according to local news reports.

The 3,500-dwt product carrier Fres (built 2008) was sailing from Lesvos to Milos carrying 1,000 tonnes of fuel oil, Kathimerini reported.

No oil leaks have been reported and the vessel, which has a crew of 16 Greek nationals onboard, does not appear to be taking in water.
