The rig was pulled free at 10.10pm on Monday evening,Alaskan time.

It was subsequently towed by Edison Chouest Offshore’sanchor handling tug Aiviq (built 2012) to a safe anchorage in Kiliuda Bay on KodiakIsland.

The Unified Command, which is co-ordinating the salvage of therig, reports that the vessel remains structurally intact with no oil leaksobserved.

The Kulluk ran aground on New Year’s Eve after the anchorhandling tug towing it lost power and could not regain control.
