A spokesman for the US Coast Guard (USCG) Sector New Orleans tells TradeWinds that the platform, which is located off Port Sulphur near the mouth of the Mississippi River, has been discharging an “oily mixture” since Tuesday evening.

Officials say a containment boom has been deployed around the site and note that ES&H has been hired to assist in the cleanup efforts but the size of the spill and the extent of damage to the 42-ft (13-metre) Sea Raider (built 1971), which is operated by Swift as well, isn’t clear.
