TheMaersk-controlled company was successful in securing the towage contracts foreight of the ten regions which each run for three years.

SmitMarine Australia successfully tendered for the South Central Queensland regionand Riverwijs-Dampier retained the contract for Western Australia’s north-west.

SvitzerAustralia and Riverwijs-Dampier had provided the service for the last sevenyears.

“Wehave every confidence in Svitzer’s and Riverwijs-Dampier’s ability to continueto provide this capability and welcome the addition of Smit Marine Australia inthe provision of towage services in South Central Queensland,” said AustralianMaritime Safety Authority (AMSA) chief executive Graham Peachey.
