The 28,259-dwt Bright Royal (built 1985) crashedinto reefs and caused 387t of fuel oil to spill from two tanks some 730 kmsouth of Hanoi.
The incident took place in waters about six nauticalmiles northwest of Quang Ngai Province’s Ly Son Island.
The accident occurred when the ship, owned byVanguard Maritime, was en route from Vung Ang port in Vietnam to Bangladesh.
Reports say the Quang Ngai provincial authority has instructed relevantagencies to deal with the oil spill.
