Local reports said the 28,300-dwt vessel (built 1985) ship has come off a reef at Ly Son, after going aground on Friday.
It was drifting in heavy swells and high winds and has covered 100 miles towards the city of Quy Nhon.
Oil was continuing to spill from the Bangladeshi ship.
Two 1.5-metre holes were torn in its engine room and tanks when it grounded, causing 387 tonnes of fuel oil to spill.
