The abandoned 28,300-dwt vessel (built 1985) travelled 100 miles towards Quy Nhon City this week after coming free fromits grounding site on a reef near Ly Son.
On Tuesday, a coast guard technical team boarded the vessel, together withrepresentatives from owner Vanguard Maritime, the master and chief engineer,local media said.
The engine was restarted but broke down again.
Two tugs eventually attached a line.
