The crewman went overboard from the 4,043-teu Loa (built2005) on Monday evening.
A navy helicopter is involved in the search, together with alifeboat and two pilot boats. Five trawlers were diverted to the scene.
The ship is managed by Splosna Plovba of Slovenia.
