Pallas Shipping's 4,500-dwt Pallas River (built 1991) hit a marked bank near Austevoll on Thursday night, local media said.
A gash of up to four metres was reported in the double bottom, but there had been no water ingress.
The ship refloated under its own power in the early hours of Friday.
It has proceeded to Bergen for further checks.
The vessel was en route from Halmstad with a crew of 10.
