Fourteen commercial fishermen and shrimpers lodgedthe latest case in a federal court in Galveston, seeking to represent others inthe same situation.

The plaintiffs claim their businesses have suffered damagesfrom the spill of marine fuel that resulted from the crash. Their lawsuittargets both Piraeus-based Cleopatra and Houston’s Kirby.

“The defendants knew or should have known of the dangersassociated with travelling in the dense fog and failed to take appropriatemeasures to prevent damage to [the plaintiff] and marine, coastal, andestuarine areas of the Gulf of Mexico,” lawyer Anthony Buzbee writes in thelawsuit.
