The incidentinvolving the 2,810-teu Hansa Constitution(built 1997) occurred on the western side of Hong Kong Island.

Thereare no reports of any pollution from the German-flagged ship which sits closeto Hong Kong’s Pok Fu Lam residential district.

Authoritiessaid the extent of the damage to the ship was unclear at this stage, but said therewere no reports of a hull breach or causalities.

The ship, which is owned by Hamburg-based HansaTreuhand Schiffsbeteiligungs, was reportedly en route to Shenzhen in China.
