The 3,632-dwt Wilson Gdynia (built 1994) ran into trouble on Saturday about 20 miles west of Skerryvore Lighthouse, south west of the island of Tiree.
The Barbados-flagged vessel alerted Stornoway Coastguard by VHF at around 10:30 local time on Saturday that it was in difficulties.
