A Polish Steamship panamax bulker has grounded and a Claus-Peter Offen boxship has collided with an offshore vessel, the Coast Guard says.
Polish Steamship’s 79,700-dwt Ornak (built 2010) struck bottom close to Chesapeake Bay.
A spokesperson for the Polish owner says the vessel remains aground and is awaiting better weather before being re-floated.
He explains the bulker is stuck in mud and is not thought to have sustained damage, although divers have yet to inspect the hull.
