The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the company will have to pay £17,311 ($29,100) for breaching oil pollution legislation when its  UK-flagged 7,024-teu Ever Sigma (built 2005) attempted an internal transfer of oil using two pumps en route to the Netherlands off Greece in January 2013.

Southampton magistrates' court heard that a precautionary alarm sounded when the tank reached 336 tonnes - 69% full, but the operation continued for another hour, with the tank at 85%.
