Crew saved from blaze

Six crew have been evacuated from a tug that caught fire at a dock in the US.

The men were sleeping below decks on a vessel named as Viking in the early hours of Friday at Mariners Harbor on Staten Island.

Firefighters woke the captain and crew after smoke was seen coming from the tug, which was docked at the Kirby Offshore Marine terminal, the SiLive website reported.

No one suffered any injuries and only minimal damage was caused to the vessel, firefighters said.

The cause remains under investigation.
