A meeting this week to approve the removal of the vessel from Giglio ended without agreement, as owner Costa Cruises, Tuscany's regional government and the province of Grosetto voted against it, UPI reported.
Altero Matteoli, president of a public works commission, said the ship could be towed to the nearby port of Piombino for dismantling and disposal, instead of towing it to Genoa.
