The 18,800-dwt AAL Fremantle was ripped from its moorings last night by winds topping 110 km/h. The winds drove the ship upstream where it first collided with a bunker barge and then hit the Fremantle rail bridge.

Tugs were eventually able to get the ship back under control and return it to its berth.

Fremantle port authorities say that there has been no significant damage to the ship, the bunker barge and the bridge.
