Oslo-listed Avance says the blaze occurred in cargo tank number three of hull 1074.
In a short statement, the shipowner said no casualties occurred during the incident that is now being investigated.
It is not clear if delivery of the newbuilding will be delayed.
Earlier this year the first of Avance’s VLGCs at Jiangnan, hull 1071, was also hit by a fire.
That blaze was reported to have been started by polyurethane insulation materials that were used for the ship.
