The 53,565-dwt Marine Stars (built 2006) suffered some damage earlier at the narrowest point of the strait between Canakkale and Kilitbahir and dropped anchor off the village of Eceabat, local media said.
Support vessel Kurtama 3 was dispatched by the vessel traffic service from the port of Konyaalti to assist.
Marine Stars is operated by Aegeus Shipping of Athens.
