The 3,100-dwt Poline (built 1981) overturned on Thursday in a storm while en route with timber from Plastun in Russia, local media said.
Nine Russians and a Ukrainian were rescued after taking to life rafts, but the second officer later died.
The chief officer was reported missing.
The vessel is operated by MV-Line of Russia.
