DNV GL has the largest classed fleet with more than 250 million gt on its books. Its nearest rival is ClassNK covering just short of 230 million gt.
Speaking at the SMM conference in Hamburg, Ueda said that ClassNK still had the fastest growing fleet and that he believes that the Tokyo based society can return to the top spot.
“Within a few years I am sure we can get back to the top,” he said.
