The 39,000-dwt Atlantic Erie (built 1985), laden with salt, got stuck off Iles-de-la-Madeleine on Sunday afternoon, according to Canada's Transportation Safety Board (TSB).

It was leaving Grand Entree at the time, CBC said.

"There is no injury or pollution, and we've been told the outer shell suffered only minor damage," said John Sypnowich, CSL's chief legal officer.

The TSB has dispatched a team of investigators to look into the incident.
