Ten others were injured after an explosion struck the Cidade de Sao Mateus today, the Oslo-listed company says.
Reports from Reuters say 74 workers were on board when the explosion occurred. Six were said to be missing.
BWO says production has now been shut down following the incident, which occurred in a field around 120km from the coast.
Davidson Lomba, an executive for the Sindepetro-ES workers union, told Reuters it is suspected a gas leak had caused the accident.
