The UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) did not specify the amount involved, but a tiny volume had been spilled from the 7,500-dwt Lysblink Seaways (built 2000) yesterday.

The ship remains aground at Kilchoan and an absorbent boom has been put in place to cope with the leak from the starboard side of the vessel.

“Weather conditions have moderated slightly this morning making it easier to use equipment,” MCA added.
